Jamaican Stereotypes

Jamaican Stereotypes

Devin McCoy

Jamaicans might have the most stereotyped culture inside of media. I dive in to break down some misconceptions I often see in the media. I myself not being from Jamaica, most of what I know about the country comes from media. As a kid everything is fun and games when it comes to enjoying stereotypes of other cultures in media, but as an adult I want to make sure I understand what I’m indulging in. I don’t think it is right to stereotype cultures in media. Media content, in my opinion, is always better when each side is represented accurately.
